5 Tips for a Snowy Day at Our Smoky Mountain Vacation Cabin Rentals

A snow day at your cabin can be the highlight of a winter vacation in the Smokies! While East Tennessee isn’t known for getting a ton of snowfall, there is a chance that you’ll see a few inches during your getaway. To help you make the most of the wintry weather, we have put together some advice for having a great time at our Smoky Mountain vacation cabin rentals.

1. Take Advantage of the Fireplace

If your cabin comes with a fireplace, a snowy day is the perfect opportunity to stoke the flames! Gather the family by the fire and play a board game, tell stories, or simply enjoy each other’s company. The warmth of the fireplace also creates an ideal ambiance for a few romantic hours with your sweetheart, or a solitary activity like reading or writing.

2. Play in the Snow

You’re never too old to play in the snow! Jump right into the fresh powder to make snow angels with your kids, or start an all out war by lobbing a snowball at your significant other. Building a snowman as a family is another great activity that everyone can get involved in. If the roads are clear, a wintry day is also the perfect time to visit the Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort, where you can do some serious playing in the snow.

3. Whip Up Some Cold Weather Treats

Sometimes food can be the best part of a snow day! When the weather gets chilly, nothing is quite as appealing as warm comfort food like grilled cheese and tomato soup, french toast, or pancakes. Our Smoky Mountain vacation cabin rentals come with fully furnished kitchens, so you can easily prepare all of your favorite dishes. As far as beverages go, you can’t beat a nice warm mug of hot chocolate. Don’t forget to bring some marshmallows!

4. Capture the Scenery with Your Camera

The Smoky Mountains are absolutely breathtaking when they are covered in snow. Be sure to take lots of photos to document the incredible scenery and the rest of your snow day fun. Your cabin’s deck will provide an excellent vantage point to capture the snow capped Smokies in all of their glory. If you can get a nice photo of the whole family with the mountains in the background, you’ll have the perfect holiday card for next year!

5. Enjoy the Jacuzzi

Many of our cabins come with delightful Jacuzzi tubs, so you can soak the day away as the snow falls down outside. There is nothing more satisfying than a warm jetted tub on a frosty winter day. Candles and music can make your bath even more relaxing.
